MOST Eerie Images Ever Captured | Hubble Space Telescope

ever since the launch of the hubble space telescope in 1990 it has changed our fundamental understanding of the universe and given us some of the most detailed and accurate images of deep space

allowing us to look at the worlds beyond our home planet the collaborative efforts of the united states nasa and european space agency esa was able to bring forth the most revolutionary devices for space research with the help of the telescope we have been able to make several remarkable discoveries ranging from giant planets black holes minor dwarf planets dying stars as well as being able to reveal atmospheric changes on satellites like europa

but that's not the only thing the powerful telescope has been able to capture hubble has pictured some things that are still unexplainable and bordering undisturbing welcome to fact nominal and in today's article we will take a look at the most eerie images of outer space captured by the hubble space telescope that will send a chill down your spine to celebrate halloween in 2021 the hubble telescope captured an image of the carbon star cw leonis when you look closely at the image you will find that it resembles an orange hued glowing eye which really kept up with the halloween spirit the picture of the carbon rich red star which lies 400 light years away from earth in the constellation leo depicts the end of the star's life just like when other giant stars like cw leonis reach the end of their life they run out of hydrogen to burn in their cores and once the nuclear fusion has stopped the outward pressure that actually supports the star from the effect of gravity finally gives out gravity wins out in the end and the resulting collapse triggers the burning of helium in the star's core as a result the heated outer layers of the star puff up and burn bright red in what is known as the red giant phase the hubble telescope has captured the star in its final phase completely shrouded by layers of soot and dust giving it a spooky appearance with what looks like a big glowing eye in the sky [Music]

in what seems to be yet another halloween special images captured by nasa's hubble space telescope show what appears to be a giant jacko lantern in the sky so while families were at home reading charlie brown and his friend linus wait to see the great pumpkin hubble found a very different kind of pumpkin

the pumpkin face here is actually composed of two aging red stars in the galaxies ngc 2292 and ngc 2293 which are in the process of colliding and seemingly come together to form the eyes

the collision is creating spiral arms which form the pumpkin's haunting grin according to nessa the entire view actually stretches out 109 000 light years across

the duo may one day become a giant spiral galaxy which scientists say is quite rare because when two galaxies collide they usually lose their flattened disc shape and the stars within are then scattered the only other galaxy comparable is ruben's galaxy so only time will tell what will emerge from space's greater pumpkin

you don't have to be a lord of the rings fan to know how chilling this next image is

the 18th brightest star fomo hot is about 25 light years away from earth in constellation pisces australia this behemoth star has twice the mass of our sun and burns extremely hotter and brighter scientists say that it is burning up hydrogen so fast that it will burn out in just one billion years nasa's hubble telescope brought us the most fascinating image of the star with a ring of dust particles in orbit around it

the entire system bears an uncanny resemblance to the great eye of sauron from the lord of the rings trilogy so much so that even the space agency made the famous reference when posting the captivating image it's almost as if the eye of a giant unknown entity is just staring straight at us from space astronomers suspect that the ring around fomo hot is actually a dusty trace of a belt of small comet like bodies much like the kuiper belt that surrounds our own solar system [Music]

with a name like ghost head nebula you already know this next one on the list is going to be rather haunting if you stare really deep into the images of the nebula system captured by the hubble telescope you will see two incredibly big bright eyes almost staring right back at you the ghost head nebula is one in a chain of star-forming regions in the large magellanic cloud the two eyes that you can see or the eyes of the ghost as they are being called a1 and a2 are actually very hot glowing blobs of hydrogen and oxygen a1 is produced by the heated intense radiation and strong stellar wind from a single massive star while a2 has a more complex appearance because of the increased amounts of stars and dust additionally the presence of the stars heavily influenced the color of the nebula giving it a haunting aesthetic against the darkness of space [Music]

the nebula ngc 1999 is one of the first images that was captured back in 1999 by the hubble space telescope after nasa astronauts had first repaired it and what they saw is the stuff that keeps you up at night ngc 1999 is what is known as a reflection nebula it is illuminated by a bright and recently formed star that is captured by the hubble image similar to fog around a street lamp a reflection nebula will shine only when a source from within illuminates its dust the nebula doesn't actually illuminate any light on its own the result was this chilling image of what looks like a dark human-like shape emerging from the white ghostly nebula according to nasa the dark nebula is actually a condensation of cold molecular gas and dust that is so thick and dense it blocks any and all light when you think of a dark haunted cave you probably imagine a wild swarm of bats on the inside few things could be creepier right

well nasa's hubble telescope has captured an eerie image of a star-forming region called the serpent's nebula which dwells in the tail of the serpent constellation it's where a young star named hbc672 exists which has a thick protoplanetary disc of gas and dust around it

the star's debris ring is too small and distant to be seen by hubble however the disc casts monster shadows onto the nebula

the two cone-like shadows in the upper right of the image are called the bat shadow because of its striking resemblance to batman's signal in the sky of course this drew a lot of attention to the star and the team of researchers who have been following it closely report that it seems to almost be moving just like how a bat would flap its wings

there is still some debate over what really causes this motion the shadow itself is so large that it's reportedly 200 times the length of our solar system nothing like a ginormous bat flapping its wings in outer space to give you the creeps

there seems to be a recurring theme of eyes in space and from the looks of it jupiter has a giant one too the largest planet in our solar system is already quite an interesting place with its abundant satellites that could quite possibly hold signs of life the hubble telescope captured a chilling image of the massive planet that shows a dark pupil of the eye in the middle of the planet

the picture is quite unsettling at first to think that jupiter could be reading us

but upon closer inspection the eye in question is actually the shadow of ganymede jupiter's icy moon but the timing of the image is impeccable and turned our big neighboring planet into a space cyclops

the crab nebula 6 500 light years away in constellation taurus happens to be one of the more well-known and studied objects in space as a part of the halloween celebrations nasa released an amazing spectral view of the crab nebula which seems quite fitting given the theme as there is a dead neutron star glowing in the heart of the nebula it is the same mass as the sun but way more densely squeezed and packed stretching only a few miles across and according to scientists a couple billion times stronger than steel it doesn't help that the neutron star spins and rapidly produces a deadly magnetic field generating 1 trillion volts

it's a little horror story all within itself right at the heart of the nebula and it's no wonder that nasa chose to evoke the imagery of edgar allan poe's the telltale heart a short story about a murderer who simply cannot stop hearing a dead man's beating heart nebula

iras05437 plus 2502 is not the catchiest name out there but it sure is one heck of a spooky nebula nasa's hubble telescope took the image in 2010 that shows the rather frightening formation it makes in the sky as it stretches out if you stare at it long enough you might imagine a phantom rising up from among the dark clouds in all its horrific glory the little no nebula seemingly billows out among the stars and dark clouds of dust in the constellation taurus close to the central plain of our milky way

at first glance it may appear to be a small formation and the eye-catching shapes of gas may have been caused due to fierce ultraviolet radiation but its haunting features actually tell of a more dramatic tail scientists have yet to determine what actually causes the bright glowing arc near its center and until we study it further it looks like the space phantom will remain lurking in the depths of space
